Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

The Benefits of Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

Cosmetic rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to improve the look and shape of the nose. The nose, as the focal point of the face, can immensely influence the overall appearance of a person. Rhinoplasty is the most demanding and intricate surgery performed on the face and requires a surgeon to perform delicate and methodically planned techniques to lead to a natural appearance.

Professional and welcoming staff in a state of the art facility. Dr. Parry and Tara were very knowledgeable and patient with all the questions I had. I could not been more confident in their expertise. Their previous and ongoing military service is both refreshing and confirmation of their ethical behavior and ability to handle unexpected events. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

The Rhinoplasty Expertise of Dr. Parry

Dr. Parry’s background as both a fellowship trained facial plastic surgeon and residency trained otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat surgeon), make him exceptionally well versed and artistically skilled in cosmetic rhinoplasty. A successful rhinoplasty is one that meets the realistic goals of the patient and balances both cosmetic and functional aspects of the nose.

No two noses are alike and Dr. Parry will uniquely reshape the nose to fit the patients face in perfect harmony

Dr. Parry’s approach to cosmetic rhinoplasty is to build a strong underlying structure that will support the cosmetic changes to the nose that will stand the test of time. Often surgeons who are not trained as an otolaryngologist or facial plastic surgeon fail to understand the structure or the functionality of the nose which leads to the eventual twisting or collapse of the nose.

Because of Dr. Parry’s dual board certification in otolaryngology and facial plastic surgery, he has a superior understanding of both the aesthetic appeal as well as maintaining the functionality of the nose. Because of this, Dr. Parry’s patients have less risk of the nose twisting or collapsing. This dual board certification makes Dr. Parry one of the most sought-after plastic surgeons for rhinoplasty.

The Difference Between open Rhinoplasty and Closed Rhinoplasty

Cosmetic rhinoplasty can be performed by either closed procedures (incision made in the inside of the nose only) or open procedures (small incisions placed on the outside of the nose). The surgical approach used is dependent on many factors to include the severity of the case, the degree of work necessary, if it’s a revision rhinoplasty and the patient’s desired outcome.

Always striving for the natural appearance, Dr. Parry adheres to the philosophy of a balanced approach to cosmetic rhinoplasty

Your Rhinoplasty will be performed by Dr. Jim Parry at his clinic in Mayfield Heights, OH located just outside of Cleveland.

FAQs

  • How much downtime can I expect?

The sutures are removed on post-operative day 4. The cast is removed post-operative day 7. Taping is used for additional 4 to 6 weeks to reduce swelling.

  • How much swelling and bruising will I have after rhinoplasty?

Most patients will experience some swelling and bruising which can last from 3 to 14 days. Most of the swelling will be gone in the first week, however it can take 6 to 9 months for all the swelling to subside. The patient’s adherence to post-operative instructions will also have a direct impact. Most bruising can be temporarily camouflaged with make-up.

  • Will insurance pay for the procedure?

Most insurances will not cover cosmetic changes to the nose.

  • How much pain will I experience post-operative?

The post-operative pain is mild to moderate depending on the severity and surgical approach. Most patients only require over the counter pain relievers or mild prescription pain medications prescribed by Dr. Parry.

  • When can I go back to work or exercise?

Most patients can return to work in 5 to 7 days. To achieve the best results exercise should be avoided for 2 to 4 weeks. Dr. Parry will personalize a recovery schedule for each patient.

  • How long does a cosmetic rhinoplasty take?

The time can range between 1 to 4 hours depending on the complexity of the case and the surgical approaches used.
