  • How Do I Prepare for a Blepharoplasty?

    Prior to blepharoplasty, it will be necessary to avoid NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). These can make the blood thinner, increasing the chance of bleeding during the surgery. Avoiding NSAIDs will reduce the amount of bruising that the patient experiences after the procedure.

    It will also be necessary for smokers to quit smoking several weeks before their blepharoplasty procedure. Smoking can cause a decline in skin health, leading to an increased risk of complications during and after surgery. Smoking can also result in a prolonged recovery process.

    Patients must arrange for a ride home before their eyelid lift surgery, since they will not be able to drive immediately following their procedure.

  • Will I Feel Anything During Eyelid Surgery?

    Patients should not feel anything while undergoing the blepharoplasty procedure. Local anesthetic is used to numb the eyelid area and will block any pain. Patients may feel the occasional tugging sensation. The rest of the patient’s face will retain its sensitivity to touch but will remain relaxed.

  • Will I Be Awake During My Eyelid Lift Procedure?

    Blepharoplasty surgery is usually performed under sedation, where the patient is awake but very relaxed. Adjustments are much easier to make if the patient is not fully asleep. However, if patients are not willing to undergo the procedure while awake, they can request general anesthesia.

  • Is It Possible to Fall Asleep During a Blepharoplasty?

    Due to the sedation that patients are given for the procedure, it is possible for them to fall asleep even if they were awake at the start. This is perfectly acceptable, since they can simply be nudged awake if needed. Falling asleep in the middle of the procedure will not affect the final results.

  • How Soon Can I Go Home After My Eye Lift?

    Blepharoplasty surgery is an outpatient procedure, meaning that patients can return home the day of their surgery without any need for an overnight hospital stay. As soon as the patient is cleared to leave after their eye lift, they can return home with the help of a ride from a friend or family member.

  • What Is the Cost of a Blepharoplasty?

    Several factors will be taken into consideration to determine the cost of a blepharoplasty. Factors that may play a role in the overall price can include the total time required to perform the procedure, the specific techniques utilized, and whether the procedure was functional or cosmetic in nature.
